About the presenter…
Jeff is the owner of the Havey Quarry in Poland, Maine, where he has been mining for nearly 20 years. He is also the President of the New England Mineral Association (https://www.nemineral.org), which, among other things, sponsors the annual New England Mineral Conference (https://www.nemineral.org/annual-conference/) and the Maine Geoscience Portal (https://www.nemineral.org/portal/).

Jeff’s talk will focus on the Maine Geoscience Portal, highlighting valuable resources and some of his favorite links—including detailed information on the Havey Quarry and other important Maine localities. He has had great success uncovering pockets of tourmaline, quartz, morganite, apatite, herderite, and many other minerals in his mining operations.
Jeff will also share updates on the Tamminen/Waisanen quarries, now known as The Frank C. Perham Mineral Park, which he and Larry Stifler of the Maine Mineral & Gem Museum purchased in 2024.
In addition, Jeff will touch on other active collecting sites in Maine and give a brief preview of the upcoming New England Mineral Conference. This promises to be an informative and exciting presentation for collectors of all experience levels.
The presentation will be preceded by socializing and a brief business meeting and followed by our traditional mineral specimen raffle.
